For a great “finished” look when removing the rear sight, use a dovetail filler blank.
We offer a “Traditional” flat topped dovetail blank reminiscent of the older Winchester/Marlin/Savage rifles from the past century. This blank will fill the sharp edged “slot” left when the factory rear sight is removed.
A note about dovetail blanks. To make a blank that would perfectly match the flats or contour of a factory barrel isn’t very practical since those dimensions all vary depending on make and model. These blanks are made slightly oversize and may require fitting, tapping in, etc. a perfectly shaped blank would be difficult due to sharp blank edges that would deform during installation.
